HMI Faculty & Instructors

Pastor Patty Patrick is the founder of the Hope Ministry Institute and has been working with Hope Chapel for the past 6 years. A graduate of the University of Missouri, she has a Bachelors in Family Consumer Science and Marketing. Patty has 24 years of experience in training, education and administration. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Divinity at The Kings College and Seminary in Van Nuys, California.

Pastor Donna Wong leads HMI as the Registrar and Director of Student Services and brings a wealth of ministry experience to both positions. Donna has faithfully served Hope Chapel for over 10 years in various ministry leadership positions. She graduated with a HMI diploma in Christian Education and became a licensed Foursquare Pastor in the fall of 2008. Donna earned her degree in Business Administration from Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia, Pa.

Pastor Stephanie Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Masters in Social Work. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of North Carolina and a Foursquare Pastor. Stephanie has served as the Church Planting Assistant for the historical Southeast District and is currently serving in the North Carolina District and Women’s Ministry at Hope Chapel. She serves as an Instructor and is on the HMI Board.

Pastor Josh Smith is a Youth Pastor at Hope Chapel in Apex, NC. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theology from Life Pacific Bible College and is an ordained Foursquare Pastor. His passion for discipleship and mentoring motivated him to shift the youth ministry into a small group format. Josh teaches for HMI and is the Men’s Ministry Leader at Hope Chapel.

Pastor Sumer Smith is a Youth Pastor at Hope Chapel in Apex, NC, and the Carolinas District Youth Pastor. Sumer has served on staff at Hope Chapel for seven years and has served for 2 years as the Carolinas District Youth Pastor. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Life Pacific Bible College and is an ordained Foursquare Pastor. Sumer has a passion to train and equip other leaders to pursue God's dreams and plans for their lives! She has continual hands-on experience in discipling and mentoring high school females by meeting with them weekly, walking them through theology, and teaching them how to apply the Bible to their everyday lives. Sumer currently serves as a board member for HMI.

Angel Wright Feldman earned her Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Tennessee. Her first Master’s degree (Public Administration) was awarded by the University of Tennessee. A second Masters was completed in Management Information Systems at Strayer University. Angel is currently working towards a Masters of Divinity at The Kings College and Seminary in Van Nuys, California. She anticipates applying for her Foursquare license within 2009. Angel serves as an HMI Instructor.

Pastor Bill Gross is the Senior Pastor of Hope Chapel. Pastor Bill has served as District Supervisor for Foursquare as well as Divisional Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and a member of the historic Southeast District Leadership Team. He has 6yrs of college education and training in church planting and leadership development. He has also participated as a coach and mentor for dozens of new church start ups. Pastor Bill heads the HMI Board and serves as an Instructor.

Pastor Jon Heath has been active in ministry for over 25 years. He has served as a pastor within the South-Central District for Foursquare in the states of Mississippi and Texas. His time there has given him 14 years of experience as a senior pastor. Pastor Jon is an extremely effective teacher and speaker, and has a passion for evangelism and open air preaching. Pastor Jon is a certified ESL instructor, and is currently on staff at Hope Chapel serving as Family and Children’s Pastor. Pastor Jon serves HMI as an Instructor.

Pastor Dan Parker attended Lee University and studied Christian Education and Bible Education. He served for three years as an Associate Pastor for Lee University and then went on to be the Senior Pastor of the Church of God in Sydney, Montana. Before moving to NC, he was the Associate Pastor in Kake, Alaska, serving the Alaskan Indians. Dan has 11 years of experience as a technical trainer and serves HMI as an Instructor.

Charles Balan is the Director of the Hope Ministry Institute and earned three simultaneous Bachelor of Arts degrees in Religion, Russian, and Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. He has been involved in ministry and missions for over 25 years, with ministry experience in Asia, Europe, Africa, North and South America. Charles has worked as a Corporate Trainer and Human Resources Consultant in the US and internationally.  Charles has taught classes in training Tentmakers and has led several mission teams overseas. He recently completed an MBA in Global Business from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Pastor Maria Parker-Lewis attended Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pennsylvania. She has served HMI in various volunteer roles, including her current position as HMI Library Administrator. She also serves as an instructor for the school. Maria received a Diploma in Christian Education from HMI in 2007 and was licensed as a Foursquare pastor in the Fall of 2008. She is studying online at The King’s College and Seminary in Van Nuys, California, in pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Messianic Jewish Studies.
